There are different ways of treatment. Herbal therapy is one of the ways.
Since ancient times people were engaged in collection of herbs and preparation of the various medicinal tisanes and decoctions. With time, the art of making infusions evolve and changed, thanks to the new scientific knowledge about the features of the plants on the planet.
Even at the present time with developed Pharmacology (science of Medicinal Substances and their effects on the human organism) and the pharmaceutical industry (mass standardized, high-performance industrial production of medicines), the use of medicinal herbs still remains popular and gains more and more devotees as it has the soft effect on the body with far fewer side effects or their complete absence. And again, humans and plants are natural parts of the same ecosystem.
Some general rules when using herbs:
When you do decoctions and infusions of the berries, leaves and flowers, it is strictly not advisable to use old herbs which were kept for several years. Even when the correct storage conditions are observed there is little left of the valuable substances that are good for the treatment or prevention of diseases.
Even worse – they may change the composition converting into harmful substances.
Avoid using copper, aluminum and tin vessels; better stick with ceramic, porcelain, glass, or stainless steel.
For proper decocting pour boiling water onto the herb and leave it to steep for 2-3 hours. There is no point to steep it longer as it will not extract more than it is being extracted during first 2-3 hours.
Don’t drink tisane when too hot; drink when it is warm as it works more effectively on your body.
